An interview with Ibiza based photographer Eva Kruiper

Ibiza is the home of many talented people. One of those people is photographer Eva Kruiper. Let’s dive in a creative mind and a sparkling personality. Ladies and gentleman meet Eva Kruiper.

Eva thank you for your time. Can you tell the world who you are and what you do in Ibiza?

Hello world! I’m a Dutch girl who likes to take pictures in Ibiza during the summer months. I came to the island 4 years ago to escape the rain and to assist island based photographer Ana Lui. I’ve been coming back to the island every summer since.

Your pictures are stunning. We have been fans of your work for many years. Can you share with us where you find your inspiration?

Thank you.. My first real fashion inspiration was Anna Castan, a stylist from Barcelona. Mid summer 2012 she contacted me with the idea of creating free work together. We did better than great our very first editorial got published in Exclama Magazine. Soon me and Anna formed a strong team, creating editorials in Ibiza, Barcelona and New York. I feed my creativity with work from photographers all over the world. One example is Dusan Reljin who I followed an internship with in New York. The locations where I shoot and the models that I have in front of my camera inspire me the most. I improvise and aim for an outstanding blend of a model, location and light.

What does Ibiza mean for you and your work…?

Living on Ibiza means that you have to go with the flow, however the island is does not flow that fast, which can be frustrating. However I went high speed the last two winters that I spent in New York, a 24/7 experience.

Can you share with us how life in Ibiza is for a talented photographer like yourself…?

Life here is lucky: palm trees, ocean breeze, salty hair and sun-kissed skin. Ibiza also means light but limits. The island offers stunning light for photography, but has no high fashion industry…

How do you see yourself in 10 years from now…?

Career, husband, some kids and a dog. And I hope to enjoy the kitchen by then 😉

If you had the chance to do it all over again what would you have done differently…?

Nothing, I believe that so far I made the right choices.

What is your favourite Ibiza hide out…?

I cannot choose between the rocks of Punta Galera and my terrace in Dalt Vila. But if I would have a boat it would be that boat.

When we say Ibiza you say…?

Forever in my heart.

AnonymousI loved Vietnam when I visited in 2007. I had the same reaction at the War Remnants Museum. The Vietnamese refer to it as the American War of course, which followed the French War. Amazing to see the spirit of these people after so much interference – they are incredible.I am grateful to you for taking us along your enlightening year with Heifer. If your travels take you to HoiAn please don’t miss Duc Tr&a1n#82h7;s MangoRooms! Best food I had in the 3 weeks I was there.Peace.
